SAS Institute is looking for more business

sas logoSAS Institute readies its Indonesia supporting office to do more business and start generating revenue stream from local market. The business intelligence software maker had appointed their first Managing Director for a start. Next: hiring more people and engaging with local channel partners.

SAS had appointed Uday W. Mathkar as first Managing Director for SAS Institute Indonesia. Uday is a seasoned software businessman with more than 20 years of experience in the industry. Prior to joining SAS, he was General Manager at SAP Indonesia and had seven years tenure with the business software maker.
Before SAP, he was Country Head of Indonesia for Singapore-based ORN Computer Systems. Uday and his family has been living in Indonesia for 10 years so he knows the local market and culture very well.

Maturing ERP market
SAS has been operating in Indonesia for the last 10 years, but mainly to serve global customers or from global partners: Accenture, Deloitte Consulting, IBM and Hewlett-Packard (HP). As Indonesian enterprise resources planning (ERP) market is maturing, SAS sees opportunities in business intelligence as companies seek ways to analyze data for accurate and timely decision making. SAS will focuses on areas in banking and finance, telecommunication, manufacturing, retail, oil and gas, and government.
“We will have ambitious target for license and services in Indonesia,” said Uday. “We will capitalize on our worldwide leadership position for Indonesian market for enterprise analytical solutions.”

Hiring more people
To support these goals, SAS require more people. SAS planned to have a workforce of 40 to 45 people by the end of this year. Most of them will fill the position in sales support and technical support. Click here for job vacancy in SAS Institute Indonesia.

Local partners
SAS is now in serious talks with local companies to be their channel partners. Until SAS finalize the deal, Uday refuse to disclose the names. “But we hope to have two or three local channel partners this year.”
